"Legend of the Sleigh"

Snow had been predicted, but Sarah and her sister didn't give it a thought on that late afternoon when they went out to play in the sleigh their father had made for them. The girls decided to take the sleigh and go up the hill behind their house. In their excitement, Sarah and her sister forgot to tell anyone where they were going.

Exhilerated and breathless, neither noticed that it had started to snow. All of a sudden, the girls found themselves in the middle of a blinding snow storm. Sarah began to cry. "Don't cry, Sarah." Her sister tried to comfort her. By this time, the snow made it impossible for the girls to see.

All of a sudden, the girls heard a loud voice. "Get in the sleigh." The girls knew they should not go with a stranger, but they were so scared, and cold, the girls got in the sleigh their father had made for them. The stranger tied a rope to the sleigh and pulled the girls home.....right up to the back door. Their Mom and Dad ran out to greet the girls, and to thank the stranger, but the stranger had disappeared. Everyone looked confused.

As the legend goes, no one ever discovered who brought Sarah and her sister home in the sleigh, but the sleigh became an important part of their Christmas celebration.

Because the sleigh represented a MIRACLE to the family, Dad decided to make small sleighs and fill them with goodies to give to their family and friends, so the MIRACLE could be shared with everyone.
